Humiliated for feeding pigeons ?

Humiliated for feeding pigeons ?

It is about time Pigeon Patrol says that, some bread thrower has been fined for feeding the birds!Pigeon Patrol feeding

A PENSIONER says she was ‘humiliated’ after being issued with a fine for feeding pigeons.

The 82-year-old, from Leigh, was feeding the pigeons with bird food she had brought from the market on Bradshawgate last Monday, January 27, when she was approached by a Wigan Council environment enforcement officer.

He informed her she was in breach of section 87 of the Environmental Protection Act and issued her a fixed penalty notice for littering. Council has a zero tolerance policy towards littering and bird feeding.

Using an Ultrasonic Repeller would have shooed those pigeons away and the feeding would never had happened.

City restricts feeding pigeons and waterfowl.

City restricts feeding pigeons and waterfowl.

It is about time that Pigeon Patrol found a great story like this.Pigeon Patrol Feeding

Hempstead Town Tuesday unanimously adopted a law that restricts feeding pigeons, ducks and geese.

The town board, in a 7-0 vote, approved the law in response to complaints from residents that feeding, especially in waterfront areas, was inundating properties with birds and their droppings.

A violation of the new law is defined as feeding that attracts at least 10 birds on at least three days within a 15-day period.

Fines can be as much as $1,000 for the first violation, $2,500 for the second and $5,000 for the third, town spokesman Mike Deery said. The town crafted the law because of reports that “hundreds of birds and geese were being fed large quantities of food on a regular basis, creating a mess and even damaging the exteriors of homes in local communities,” Hempstead officials said in a statement.

The three residents who spoke at Tuesday’s public hearing on the law supported the restrictions. Jeremy Sessler of Seaford said he pushed for the law because his Ocean Avenue home sometimes has 25 to 50 birds — mostly Canada geese — on the front lawn because neighbors overfeed and attract birds. “This [the law] is good for both the residents and birds,” Sessler said after the hearing. “We now look to the town to enforce this code to protect residents.”

Can Ultrasonic sound kill you?

Can Ultrasonic sound kill you?

Pigeon Patrol UltrasonicPigeon Patrol Products and Services wonder if Ultrasonic sound can kill you? The short answer is “yes”.

The Space Shuttle’s Mobile Launch Platform used to dump 300,000 gallons of water onto the platform during launch, to absorb the intense acoustic energy that would otherwise damage the Shuttle. Giant air horns, using nitrogen gas to produce sounds as loud as 154 decibels.

The question is, is 154 decibels enough to kill you? In all honesty, probably not — unless, perhaps, you were stuck with your head inside the horn for a prolonged period. 150 decibels is usually considered enough to burst your eardrums, but the threshold for death is usually pegged at around 185-200 dB. A passenger car driving by at 25 feet is about 60 dB, being next to a jackhammer or lawn mower is around 100 dB, a nearby chainsaw is 120 dB. Generally, 150 dB (eardrum rupture) is only achieved if you stand really close to a jet aircraft during take-off or you’re near an explosive blast.

The general consensus is that a loud enough sound could cause an air embolism in your lungs, which then travels to your heart and kills you. Alternatively, your lungs might simply burst from the increased air pressure.

High-intensity ultrasonic sound (generally anything above 20KHz) can cause physical damage. Some very low frequencies (infrasound) can apparently cause your eyeballs to vibrate, making it very hard to see.

Pest Control called 21 times?!

Pest Control called 21 times?!

pigeon patrolThe University of Bolton is one of the biggest buildings in the city centre area. Pest control has been called 21 times for mice, ants, and pigeons.  Complaints have been made but no effective method has been proven to keep the pests away.

Last year, The Bolton News revealed pest control workers had been called out to the Royal Bolton Hospital 17 times in 2009, 20 times in 2010, 20 times in 2011 and 31 times in 2012.

The use of Pigeon Patrol’s Bird Netting or Ultra-Flex Bird Spikes could have easily dealt with these pest problems and reduced the amount of calls the pest control workers had to address.

Robot Falcons good at scaring Pigeons?

Robot Falcons good at scaring Pigeons?

Pigeon Patrol robotOnce again, the pigeon dilemma surrounding the Scottish Parliament and its pigeons has risen. An East Lothian Company could have saved the Holyrood Chiefs at least 50,000 dollars from spending attempts in scaring off pigeons from the Holyrood building. The East Lothian Company said they approached the parliament with Mock Falcons, which are electronic birds used to scare off birds, but were ignored.

The use of Bird Free 4-S Gel could have been an inexpensive and easier solution than all combined. Pigeon Patrol’s 4-S Gel is easy to install and when any UV light makes contact with the gel, the birds see it as fire. Simple?! Could have saved more than 50,000 dollars if you ask me.

Amsterdam’s Pigeon Pate!! Yummmmm!

Amsterdam’s Pigeon Pate!! Yummmmm!

Pigeon Patrol MealAs many as 1000 pigeons trapped or killed by a pest control firm in Amsterdam end up on dinner plates as pate. There have been massive amounts of pigeons around the area that they’ve been called sky vermin. This has led to a pest exterminating company to the idea of selling pigeons to butchers. After being caught, pigeons are sold to butchers across the city to be made into pate.

With the use of Bird Deterrents such as Ultra-Bird Spikes or Bird Netting, the areas with great amounts of pigeons could have been controlled or the products could have been put in place as an animal friendly solution.

Pigeons spread disease easily due to the fact that they can travel great distances, harbor over forty different types of parasites, and can host sixty different types of diseases. Without proper health regulations, this dish poses a lot of health risks.

As Pigeons are not protected, the pest control company can catch and do as they please with them. I don’t know how they are treating these animals but let’s hope they are as animal friendly as Pigeon Patrol is.

How Pigeons Navigate Home:

Pigeon Patrol came across this interesting story about how Pigeons navigate similar to Pilots.Pigeon Patrol Birds
Pigeons have a limited mental process but despite having small brains, they can navigate extremely well.

Pigeons are influenced by visual properties of the landscape and use landmarks as a navigation tool. If the area is too bland and the same, pigeons have a harder time finding home; I guess that’s why pigeons like to hang out on the roof tops of buildings.

Scottish Parliament: Axe Pigeon Killing Ban

Scottish Parliament: Axe Pigeon Killing Ban

scott Pigeon PatrolThe Scottish Parliament has been dealing with issues regarding the amount of Pigeons surrounding the Holyrood Building for some time now. Contractors sent to deal with the pigeons suggested that the Parliament rethink their non-lethal ban if they want to keep their pigeons under control.

The contractors have used laser pens and hawks to scare the pigeons away but have caused concern from animal welfare groups.

The simple use of Pigeon Patrol’s Bird Free 4-S Gel or Sound and Laser Bird Repellers could have been a great animal friendly solution. By using Pigeon Patrol’s safe and humane bird deterrents, the Scottish Parliament and all animal welfare groups can be satisfied.

Pigeon Patrol Laser

Birds of Prey eat Pigeons in front of school children!!

Birds of Prey eat Pigeons in front of school children!!

Ohh. Boy , there is a reason that Pigeon Patrol does not use Birds of Prey as a deterrent. This is reason one!

HAWKS were brought in on contract to scare away the pigeons. The parliament was warned the birds of prey could lead to a PR disaster if they began eating the pigeons alive in front of schoolchildren.Pigeon Patrol Hawk

But the birds or Prey had a closer call in when a “service agreement” document carried instructions to clear pigeons from part of the MSP block, then added: “Shoot pigeons if possible during first visit; if not, a second visit may be required.”

Early attempts to combat the problem by stringing anti-pigeon wire across ledges failed because they just hopped over it. Anti-roosting spikes were first rejected as “visually unattractive”, but later installed.

So this is the answer Kill the birds with another larger bird or Shoot them!!

Thank goodness Pigeon Patrol offers Pigeon or Bird Spikes, Bird Netting, 4-S Gel and Ultrasonics Sound Units to deter the birds!!

Pigeons love the new Hastings bridge!!

Pigeons love the new Hastings bridge!!

Pigeons just love new things, Pigeon Patrol Staff came across this bridge of a situation.pigeon patrol bridge

For some reason, pigeons have marked off a very clear patch of the new Hastings bridge as their own. They apparently have no interest in spending time on any other part of the bridge. Rather, they congregate on the northbound side of the bridge on the arch about halfway up.

Minnesota Department of Transportation bridge project manager Steve Kordosky. “I don’t know why they have selected that particular spot.”

Kordosky thinks that since that part of the bridge faces south, it warms up faster than the rest of the bridge.

Well who knows why birds do what they do!!  I am sure that if some of Pigeon Patrol’s Ultra-Flex bird spikes or pigeon spikes were installed, or some of the new 4-S Gel or even an Ultrasonic sound Repeller that would be enough to deter the birds from the bridge.

Laser Pen as a Pigeon Deterrent?

Laser Pen as a Pigeon Deterrent?

Pigeon Patrol flying pigeonPigeon Patrol thought that this was a funny story. Lasers are great but you need to be there every night to disrupt the birds. Contractors NBC Bird and Pest Solutions, which regularly fly hawks to scare the pigeons away from the Holyrood building, have now resorted to using laser pens. But today, pigeon specialists voiced fears that the pens could blind the birds and said they would never recommend them. pigeon patrol laser

The use of laser pens only came to light in documents obtained under Freedom of Information.

In monthly updates on the contractors’ work, parliament bosses were told: “Targeted pen lasers have been used to disturb and disperse pigeons roosting at night. Most visits concentrated on the dawn and dusk periods to disturb and deter roosting activity.”

In addition to the laser pens, the contractors are also using “optical gel” (4-S GEL) – a substance which is spread on surfaces and makes it appear to pigeons that the area is on fire.

A spokesman for animal welfare group PETA added: “Laser pens can damage pigeons’ eyes just like they can humans’.

Pigeon Patrol agrees and thinks that the better deterrents would be bird spikes or pigeon spike, 4-S gel, bird netting or the Ultrasonic repellers.

Council threatens people over feeding the pigeons !

Pigeon Patrol wonders if the Council staff will follow through with their threats?

Pigeon Patrol FeedThere are large numbers of pigeons that sit on roof canopies of shops and in pathways, particularly Bowen Square and Foundry Place.

Apart from looking unsightly, spores from dried bird droppings can spread diseases similar to pneumonia and influenza if they are inhaled as dust and carried by the wind.

The new signs ask shoppers not to feed the birds and warn them that they could face a fine or prosecution for doing so.

David Cribbin said: “Feeding the birds is technically littering and can cause a potential health hazard.

“The new signs in the town center make it clear not to feed the birds and that people could be fined or prosecuted for doing so. However we hope that it won’t come to that and that these signs will act as an effective deterrent.”

Pigeon Patrol offers clients a variety of services for Bird Control that will suit the needs of their facility. Pigeon netting to tackle car dealership!!

Pigeon netting to tackle car dealership!!

“Deadly Droppings”
Pigeon Patrol stumbled upon a story that’ll make you question where to buy your next car.pigeon patrol droppings
The staff at the BMW dealership, Vines of Guildford, has been under inevitable stress due to a great amount of bird droppings on their vehicles. The waste site next door attracts many birds such as seagulls and pigeons due to their form of transportation of waste. Only now, after many complaints about health issues and random falling pieces of food, the waste site facility will be installing new nets to keep the birds away. But the BMW dealership staff doesn’t it’ll be enough to keep the birds away.
Pigeon Patrol could handle this situation in a matter of seconds. Pigeon Patrol offers great products such as the Ultra-Flex Bird Spikes that could have been easily installed at the waste facility to keep the birds away safely and keep the community happy. Pigeon Patrol provides quality work and equipment and the flying bird poop and food can easily be diminished.

Fifty pigeons were killed in a fire

Pigeon Patrol came across this sad story on how pigeon deterrents were not used but fire was used to kill Fifty pigeons on an East pigeon patrol fireCleveland allotment in the early hours of this morning.  Fire crews were called to the allotments in Liverton Mines at about 12.30am. They used two hose reels to extinguish the blaze, which they said killed approximately 50 pigeons and damaged the pigeon loft.

A police spokeswoman said: “Enquirers are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.”  Using simple bird or pigeon deterrents, like bird spikes, bird netting, Ultrasonic repellers to get rid of the birds from roosting may have helped save these pigeons lives.

Tourists fed up with pigeon droppings in Mosley Square !

Tourists fed up with pigeon droppings in Mosley Square !

Pigeon Patrol problems Pigeon Patrol feels for these tourists with the Pigeons in plague-like proportions causing them headaches.

The birds are getting so daring they are stealing food from cafe tables while diners eat. The situation is so bad the Glenelg flock has begun to attract natural predators, with a family of falcons now nesting in a hotel’s roof area, feeding on the pigeons.More than six months has passed since traders met with the council to raise concerns about hundreds of pigeons causing a menace in and around the tourist hotspot.

“If it was a rat problem you’d expect the council to take control,” Mr Higgins said.”These are the rats of the sky. “As an operator in the area you expect the local council to take some ownership and give some direction, but we haven’t had any clear direction since the meeting.

The Stamford Grand has spent thousands of dollars trying to manage pigeons pooing by its pool, including $18,000 to install nets and spikes last year.

Mr Higgins was concerned the issue was affecting the hotel’s international reputation, as reviews on travel websites had mentioned the pigeon problems. “It’s a worldwide negative impact for us,” he said. “They poop all over the chairs and tables and you’re constantly having to clean all that up … if they can move them on it would be fantastic.”

Holdfast Bay chief executive Justin Lynch last month said the council had contacted the Environment Department to “explore the lawfulness of various pigeon control methods”, and had received quotes from a contractor recommended by the department.

The council traps and releases pigeons roosting on its buildings, which are also fitted with nets, spikes and wires.

It would be best not to release these bird but rather install Pigeon Patrols Ultrasonic Impact Repellers to deter the birds! Pigeon Patrol comic

Health fears as pigeons found in hospitals !!

Health fears as pigeons found in hospitals !!

pigeon patrol birds

Wow where can you feel safe from infection if not in a hospital? Pigeon Patrol found this story and the troubles the UK is having.

Rats, cockroaches and pigeons were among the pests to be found in hospitals across the city during the last year.  At Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital, pest controllers disposed of pigeons in the oncology unit, with 62 call-outs by the Trust over the last 12 months.

At Good Hope Hospital a dead pigeon was removed from an X-Ray filing room, as well as a cockroach found in a ward kitchen at Heartlands Hospital, both run by the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust.

Katherine Murphy, Chief Executive of the Patients Association, said that the information was a major safety concern.

“Each of our hospitals has a contract with Ecolab, who provide effective, pro-active pest elimination.” A spokesman from University Hospitals Birmingham Trust, which includes the QE Hospital added: “The Trust attaches the greatest importance to infection control and in doing so ensures that our patients, staff and visitors are exposed to minimum risk relating to pest infestation.”

I think that the hospitals could use Pigeon Patrol’s service and most of it’s pigeon deterrent products including the bird spikes, bird netting, 4-S Gel and the new Ultrasonic repellers to help ward off the pigeons.

Pigeon Control: Controlling the Problem

Pigeon Control: Controlling the Problem

Giant Pigeon PatrolSo here is another company tell you what is the best pigeon deterrent is: Let’s have a peak!

The Bird spike system plays a very important role in preventing the birds from roosting on the ledges. Tips are blunt which don’t hurt the birds and also prevents them from creating the nest. Wire system is also used in warding off the troubles.  Tensioned stainless steel wire is an effective barrier for birds and would go a long way in providing amazing results.

Yea they got this one right!!!

Bird blaster is a control device with Dopler radar and an air compressor. Hose is installed around the perimeter of the building or the billboard. Joint feature of the solenoid keeps the air flow to the surgical pipe closed. When a bird flies in the vicinity, the radar transits the information. Hose opens up and a loud noise is emitted that scares the birds away.

Pricy and the city can get you to turn it off for good!!!

Where is the 4-S Gel and the Ultrasonic Repellers????? I am sure that a few of these products will work on certain areas but to be in this industry you have to be one with the pigeon and adapt. That;’s what we do here at Pigeon Patrol Products and Services. We also manufacture all of our own products, from bird spikes, pigeon spikes to netting right down to our sound and ultrasonic repellers we are the logical choice for all your bird control needs.Pigeon Patrol Logo

borough, much to the dismay of locals.

She became renowned for scooping stricken birds up into her Gucci handbag and taking them to her home and then rubbed the birds in lavender.

Lee, who suffers from multiple personality disorder, was deemed unfit to plead to the charges.

The problem is the feeding of pigeons on a huge scale, which causes serious disturbance to those around her.

‘I then catch them in a net, which I carry with me everywhere I go.

‘Then I put them in Gucci bags hanging off my Mamas & Papas pram. I take them home and take the string off their feet, rub them in lavender and treat them with homeopathy.

Wow not I have seen it all. We need to send over some bird spikes or Ultrasonic repellers for this area to use to help ward off their pigeon problem.

Postman splat! Pigeon mess deters delivery Again!!

Pigeon Patrol Postman

I will not get Shat on!

Right up our alley: These people should call on the Pigeon Patrol for all their pigeon deterrent needs. It seems that Postal workers are refusing to deliver mail to a woman’s home because they are scared of slipping on – pigeon droppings.

Frustrated Heather Rogers, 63, has been told the amount of bird waste in an alleyway leading to her house is a health and safety risk.

Pigeons gather on top of a wall above the small alley in Helston, Cornwall, and regularly pelt the path with droppings.

When Heather noticed some of her mail wasn’t arriving when she went to the post office to pick it up it had been marked ”too slippery”.

Officials at Royal Mail have told her that it is up to each postal worker to decide if they want to walk on the pigeon droppings.Pigeon Patrol Shat car

Heather said: “I went to the post office and they said they hadn’t been going down there because it was too slippery with all the pigeons. One neighbour of Heather’s said postal workers were being ”ridiculous” in not delivering . She said: ”There are a lot of pigeons here and they do make a bit of a mess, but it’s not too bad.”

These gals need some bird spikes or pigeon spikes, a wee bit of netting and some ultrasonic sounds to get their mail delivered.

Pigeon Patrol Lady

Where did Tweety go!

Most people call Pigeon Patrol to get rid of their pigeon problems, however I am sure that this lady would not have us on her speed dial.

A Vancouver Island woman is devastated after her pet pigeon Tweety was taken to an animal rescue center, which now refuses to give the bird back.

Chemainus resident Sandy Bird, 72, rescued the pigeon from near death last March. He has lived as a member of her family ever since, accompanying Bird everywhere she went, even on car trips.

Last week, Tweety flew out of the car, but returned to the wrong vehicle. The owner of that vehicle, Mike Toole, took the bird to the BC SPCA Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre – Wild ARC – in Metchosin.

Bird said wildlife officials tell her Tweety is better off with pigeons, but it feels like she’s lost a member of the family.

“He’s probably the most lonely, lost little guy in the world. He’s more than just a bird,” she said.

Despite this, Senior Wildlife Rehabilitator Christina Carrieres said Bird did not have the proper permits.

It is illegal to possess any type of wildlife without a permit. They are protected under the Wildlife Act,” said Carrieres.

Wildlife officials plan to transfer Tweety to another wildlife centre soon, where he can live out his days in captivity.Pigeon bird

While most of our clients call Pigeon Patrol for all of their bird spike , bird spike, bird netting, 4-s Gel and Ultrasonic repellers all bird deterrents, we wish the best to this lady and hope one day she is reunited with Tweety.
